Preventive dentistry
Preventive dentistry or dental prophylaxis involves a set of measures aimed at achieving good oral health through prevention of diseases or their early treatment.
We all know that in order to have a beautiful and healthy smile, we need to brush our teeth at least twice a day with a toothbrush and toothpaste. However, daily oral hygiene does not guarantee the absence of dental problems, so regular preventive check-ups are essential.
Early detection of risk factors like cavities, periodontal diseases, and orthodontic deformities through regular check-ups allows these issues to be addressed and prevented, or diagnosed in time, thus increasing the chances for easier, faster, painless, and consequently cheaper treatment.
Our dental examination includes a detailed assessment of your dental and oral status, creation of an individual dental record, clarification or the diagnosis of your problem, treatment methods, potential risks, alternatives, and prognosis. When necessary, we perform intraoral sectional X-ray examinations on-site and diagnostic bite scanning.
For all complex cases, we prepare a smile analysis and a comprehensive individual treatment plan, with attention to specific needs and desires. We also have specialized equipment for professional teeth cleaning and polishing.
We, at dental clinic Vaya Dent, believe that prophylaxis is the key to healthy teeth and happy patients.
Early detection of risk factors for cavities, periodontal diseases, and orthodontic deformities through regular check-ups allows these issues to be addressed and prevented, or diagnosed in time, thus increasing the chances for easier, faster, painless, and consequently cheaper treatment.
It is recommended that all patients undergo prophylaxis at least twice a year, i.e., every 6 months. This ensures early detection, easier treatment, and prevention of complications of dental caries. To prevent periodontal diseases, it is recommended to have check-ups and tartar cleanings 1-2 times annually.
– Caries prevention: Depending on the age at which preventive check-ups begin, there are various possibilities: entirely preventing the development of caries, early or late treatment to prevent complications (damage to the dental pulp).
– Prevention of periodontal diseases: Inflammation of the gums and the structures supporting the tooth.
– Prevention of dental-jaw issues: Alignment of the teeth in each jaw, the type of bite, and the need for orthodontic treatment.
Besides regular dental check-ups, prophylaxis also includes:
– Instructions for proper oral hygiene: Guidance on proper at-home teeth cleaning, dental products, etc.
– Nutritional advice: Guidance on balanced nutrition, limiting carbohydrate intake, and improving dietary habits.
– Recommendations for future and current parents.
– Application of fluoride treatments
– Sealant application: Placing a protective material on newly erupted children’s teeth to prevent caries.
Prophylaxis and routine check-ups are important for all patients, regardless of age or existing dental conditions.
It is especially important for pregnant women and children.
It is recommended that during pregnancy, the future mother is informed about preventive measures to ensure the full development of the baby’s oral structures. The child’s first check-up should be after the eruption of baby teeth. It is important to start maintaining oral hygiene with the help of the parents, monitor proper tooth eruption, and identify harmful habits such as thumb sucking, mouth breathing, etc.
