Radiological diagnosis
Dental radiographs (X-rays) are diagnostic images of the teeth, bones, and surrounding oral structures obtained by having X-rays pass through them.
X-ray examinations are widely used in both routine and specialized procedures. They are essential for the accurate diagnosis and treatment of various dental problems.
X-ray images are invaluable for detecting early and often asymptomatic conditions before they become more serious, as well as for identifying issues that cannot be detected through other diagnostic methods. They help reveal the presence and depth of dental cavities, the condition of existing restorations, root anatomy, fractures of teeth and jaws, bone resorption, dental pulp pathology, orthodontic anomalies, cysts, neoplastic processes, and more.
At Vaya Dent, we use the latest generation digital dental X-ray machine, Planmeca, often referred to as “kugel.” This technology allows us to quickly, easily, and reliably obtain optimal images of the examined area. We perform sectoral intraoral radiographic examinations, also known as “dental X-rays.” The images are developed using advanced technology—a digital scanner for phosphor plates by Durr. This combination provides numerous advantages, allowing us to obtain high-quality diagnostic images with minimal radiation exposure to the patient. We then enhance these images electronically for clearer visualization of details.
The main risk associated with X-ray diagnostics in medicine is radiation exposure to the patient and the potential accumulation of that exposure. However, in dental X-ray examinations, this risk is minimized and falls into the lowest risk category. The amount of radiation from the sectoral intraoral radiographs we perform in our practice is equivalent to less than a day’s exposure to natural background radiation or one international flight.
To ensure patient safety, every individual undergoing X-ray diagnostics with us will be fully protected by a lead apron with a collar that absorbs radiation. The examination will be conducted by a qualified dental specialist.
